WHY WE MADE THIS
Sight words come home every week. The fight doesn’t have to.

As a child psychologist focused on learning and education, I hear the same story from parents every year. A new list comes home, there’s a stack of flashcards, and a tired kid at the end of a long day. By the third round nobody’s having fun, and your child is guessing from the first letter just to be done.
Most parents are surprised to learn that most sight words can be sounded out. Usually only one small part of the word is tricky, and that’s the part worth learning by heart. When kids connect the sounds to the letters, the words stick. So we made this: your child’s own school words, a short story to play together, and a few minutes that end with them feeling proud.
“Kids try hardest when they feel capable. Five good minutes beat thirty miserable ones.”— Dr. Elizabeth Adams, Child Psychologist and Co-Founder at Ello
