A FEW MINUTES TOGETHER
Choose up to three familiar school words from a practice set.
Say each word together. Look at its sounds and letters; notice any tricky part.
Build the word with letters, then read it in a short sentence.
Use the weekly planner to revisit words and notice progress.
Your PDF has the full routine, a worked example, writing spaces, and a planner you can reuse each week.
The lists are grouped in sets of five for easy browsing. Start with up to three words your child has already met, and follow their energy and their teacher’s guidance.
Look across the whole word together. Say the word and point out a useful sound or spelling, rather than asking for repeated guesses. Help promptly and end on a success.
Start with your child’s school list. Grade levels are a reference, not a deadline. Keep practicing tricky words and add new ones when reading feels easier across several short sessions.
Print on A4 or US Letter using “Fit to printable area.” For just the word list, print the practice set pages shown in your PDF’s contents. Color is optional; the activities also work in black and white.
Learn sightwords combines commonly used school word lists, with repeats removed. Words are grouped by the earliest grade in those lists and ordered by frequency. Teaching approach informed by the What Works Clearinghouse reading guide.
